Ronaldo

ENRIGHT

Born in 1960

Profile & Bio

Born in Buenos Aires, he graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes with a diploma in Drawing and Engraving. In 1990, Ronaldo emigrated to France. He has developed an effective graphic style to create scenes of great freedom and combines his obsession with ancient myths creating mysterious links between his imaginary characters and nature. His contemporary world is alive with characters both joyful and cruel, with burlesque touches. Lines and colours frenetically invade the space, interweaving between planes and scenarios. His primitive forms and simple geometry give free rein to his imagination. He captivates the viewer with narrative compositions rich in detail, saturated with signs and enigmas. Like a frenetic obsession, felt-tip strokes obstinately invade each of his canvases. Always drawn freehand, yet perfectly aligned and straight, they cover the 'background' paint to give it meaning, to add shadows, shades of colour, details and contours. Inspired by mythology and the human condition, and sometimes with a dark sense of humour, Ronaldo's canvases evoke sensuality, eroticism and passion in some cases, and cruelty and punishment in others. The graphics are free, geometric, rich in colour and with characters that are jovial, ferocious or grotesque. The richness of the details, the enigmas, the colours and the many symbols captivate and keep those who try to observe them in an emotional state.
