Ayvaz Avoyan was born in Gusanagiugh in the Shirak region of Armenia From 1974–1976, he studied at the Gyumri Fine Arts College, before going on to graduate from Yerevan Fine Arts and Theater Institute in 1986. His works have been exhibited in Russia (Moscow & Saint Petersburg) USA, Argentina and Belgium. Hi works are exhibited at the Yerevan Museum of Modern Art, and in private collections around the world. In 2013, an exhibition hall named after Ayvaz Avoyan was opened in Gusanagiugh, with a permanent display of his works. He had individual exhibitions in Yerevan (1993, Yerevan Museum of Modern Art). In 2001, he participated in a group exhibition with three other artists at the Rudolph Gallery in Amsterdam.
